The Ukrainian Corporation for Viticulture and Wine Production Industry “Ukrvinprom” was established in 2000 and is one of the leading industry professional formations of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine.

 

Corporation ” Ukrvinprom ” protects the interests of winegrowers and winemakers of Ukraine and contributes to developing the domestic viticulture and winemaking industry.


The Ukrvinprom includes four regional formations and most of the leading winemaking enterprises.

 

As a part of the Composition Ukrvinprom, the Central Sector Taste Panel of the Corporation was created in 2007.  One of the crucial tasks is quality monitoring of wine products, which are produced by wineries in Ukraine and are imported to it conformity requirements of current legislation and normative and technological documentation.

 

One of the crucial directions activity Ukrvinprom ‘s goal is to create and strengthen a positive image of Ukrainian wine products on the world alcohol market drinks.  

 

In 2010 corporation “Ukrvinprom” became a member of the International Federation of Wines and Spirits Drinks (FIVS).

 

In March 2012, at the meeting of council directors and the General Assembly of the European Committee of Wine Producers (CEEV), took legal confirmation accession of the ” Ukrvinprom ” corporation to the Committee.

 

Under the auspices of the  Ministry of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine within the framework of cooperation with the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), the Corporation is an expert in commissions and subcommissions of OIV and ensures the participation of representatives of Ukrainian winemakers in annual events, annually ensures the provision of statistical reporting and worked on the accession of Ukraine to the  OIV as a full member.

 

Corporation “Ukrvinprom” with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine and media group “Ukrainian Pravda” with support from the Ministries of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine, started carrying out the annual National Wine Forum.

 

Ukrvinprom turned to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, with a proposal to introduce the national holiday ” The Day of the Vine and Wine Industry,” which is currently noted annually on the second Sunday of November.

 

European Committee of wine producers (CEEV) supported the specified initiative. It turned to the President of the country with a similar letter which noted the importance of introducing National Wine Day in Ukraine.

 

In preparation for the negotiations on creating a Free Trade Zone as part of the conclusion of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, a Memorandum was prepared and signed (on December 7, 2010) as the initiative of Corporation Ukrvinprom. Furthermore, Memorandum was signed between the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the Ministry of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Corporation for Viticulture and Wine Production Industry “Ukrvinprom” regarding the understanding of the position of the delegation of Ukraine for participation in the negotiations.

 

The Corporation took an active part in consultative business meetings with representatives of the European Organization of Alcoholic Beverage Producers ( The European Spirit Organization ), the Pernod – Ricard group, and the National Interprofessional Bureau of Cognac for Relations with Companies of the Cognac Province, the Interprofessional Committee of Champagne Wine Producers ( CIVS ), the Ukraine-EU Business Council and others within the framework of the next rounds of negotiations between Ukraine and the European Union regarding the creation of the Zone free trade in terms of protection of geographical indications of European countries used in the wine industry of Ukraine, and following the directives of the Memorandum between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine and the Corporation regarding the position in official negotiations.

 

During the discussion, EU industry representatives recognized the historical and cultural heritage of the Ukrainian wine industry. Therefore, they agreed that Ukraine could use EU-sensitive geographical indications in the domestic market following international law. The negotiation process’s outcome was the meeting’s protocol agreed upon and signed on 05/19/2011 by representatives of the wine industry of Ukraine and the EU.

 

On March 27, 2013, for the first time in history, development relations between Ukrainian and the world wine communities in the central headquarters of the Intergovernmental International Organisation of Vine and Wine held a presentation-tasting the best samples of Ukrainian wines with the support of Ukrvinprom Embassy of Ukraine in France Republic. 

 

Ukrvinprom handed over samples of the participating companies’ products to the wine cellar OIV, which indicates recognition of the high quality and uniqueness of Ukrainian wine products.

 

Following the  decision of the Bureau of the Presidium of the National Academy of Agriculture Sciences of Ukraine as of March 26, 2014 (Protocol №. 3), the Scientific Center “Ukrainian Wine Institute”  was founded by the  Ukrvinprom Corporation on May 22, 2014, in the cooperation with the  Department of Biotechnology of Fermentation and Wine Products of the  National University of Food Technologies to accelerate scientific and technical progress in winemaking using development and implementation of progressive technologies, working out  measures that ensure  the functioning of the wine products market, contributing to the improvement of its qualitative characteristics to the level of European and World Markets.

 

On October 2, 2014, for half a year, the Ukrvinprom Corporation conducted negotiations with the financial and economic structures of the United States of America, as a result of which Ukrainian wine-growing regions were entered into the relevant US Register, and thereby Ukraine was officially recognized as a wine-producing state.

 

On February 25, 2016, the First National Wine Forum was held, where producers called on the authorities to save the industry. This resulted in the cancellation of the wholesale license for small wineries to sell products made from self-grown raw materials.

 

On December 14, 2016, the Ukrainian Corporation for Viticulture and Wine Production Industry “Ukrvinprom” together with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine and the media group “Ukrainian Pravda” with the support of other public and professional organizations, held the Second National Wine Forum on December 14, 2016, based on the Trade and Industry ward.

 

On November 14-15, 2017, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, together with the Ukrainian Corporation for Viticulture and Wine Production Industry “Ukrvinprom” and the media group “Ukrainian Pravda” held the National Wine Forum for the third time with the participation of Jean-Marie Oran, Director General of the International Organization of Vine and Wine.

 

On June 4, 2018, Ukrvinprom and SC “Ukrainian Wine Institute,” at the invitation of the US Government, participated in expert meetings and discussions of the International Wine Technical Summit (IWTS). This extended consistent cooperation with the US Alcohol & Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) and Wine Institute. Which promptly supported Ukrainian producers and us in the issue of entering the relevant US Register, which in turn contributed to the consolidation of the positions of Ukrainian wine products on the American market.

 

On July 10, 2018, Ukrvinprom presented the domestic vine and wine industry at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the European Wine Committee held in Jerez de la Frontera, Consejo Regulator Jerez-Xeres-Sherry, Spain.

 

On October 17, 2018, a professional tasting of wine samples was held by the Central Sector Taste Panel of the Corporation Ukrvinprom based on the OP “Uzhgorod Cognac Plant” ( Uzhgorod ). As part of the tasting to determine the best, both samples of wine products purchased on commission from trade networks and the bottles provided directly by producers were presented.

 

On October 30, 2018, the Ukrainian Corporation for Viticulture and Wine Production Industry “Ukrvinprom”  together with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine with the support of the media group “Ukrainian Pravda” in partnership with the Embassy of France in Ukraine held a workshop for winemakers “Ukrainian wine – honoring traditions!”.

 

On October 31, 2018, the 4th National Wine Forum and Ukraine Wine Drive Festival.

 

On February 13, 2019, the Ukrainian Corporation for Viticulture and Wine Production Industry “Ukrvinprom”  and the Scientific Center “Ukrainian  Wine Institute” of the National Academy of Sciences, the United Registrar of Systems Ukraine, the Federation of Auditors, Accountants and Financiers of the Agricultural Industry of Ukraine signed a memorandum of cooperation for the successful implementation of a program aimed at improving and development of the viticulture and wine industry.


The Memorandum is not limited to developing documentation and establishing elementary order in production. In addition, an effective food safety management system was introduced, training of the highest management, the HACCP group ( Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point ), personnel performing work that affects the safety of products, and persons responsible for operational control.

 

On March 13, 2019, Ukrvinprom represented the wine industry at the General Assembly and Board of Directors of the European Wine Committee.

 

On June 18-21, 2019, an All-Ukrainian “closed” tasting of the Central Sector Taste Panel of the Corporation Ukrvinprom for the determination of the best still and sparkling wines of Ukraine took place based on PJSC ” Artwinery” in Bakhmut.

 

On June 3, 2019, the General Director of Ukrvinprom took part in the meeting of the International Technical Summit on Wine (California), during which the conclusions of studies on the positive effect of wines from Isabel grape varieties (Isabella, Lidia, Noa, Etc.) on the human body were obtained.

 

On July 19, 2019, Ukrvinprom participated in the work of the 17th General Assembly of the OIV on issues of viticulture and winemaking. The meeting of which the Swiss compared in terms of importance with the meeting of the United Nations Organization (ONU, which has a second representative office in Geneva).


The General Director made a presentation report, “Prerequisites and development of the system of geographical indications of wine production in Ukraine,” including a discussion of the prospects of Ukraine’s return to the OIV.

 

On October 22-25, 2019, based on the Tavriya House of Vintage Cognacs in Nova Kakhovka, an all-Ukrainian tasting (“closed method”) of cognacs and brandy was held by the Central Sector Taste Panel of the Corporation Ukrvinprom to determine the best cognacs of Ukraine.

 

On October 23, 2019, as part of a 3-day program of events for specialists in the vine and wine industry, the seminar “Important modern aspects of cognac production in Ukraine” was held with the participation of the National Interprofessional Bureau of Cognac, the EU project “Supporting the Development of the System of Geographical Indications in Ukraine” support European Commission, Embassy of the French Republic.

 

On November 28, 2019, Ukrvinprom, together with the Export Promotion Office, with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development, presented the logo of the Wine of Ukraine brand ( Wine of Ukraine ) at the 5th National Wine Forum.

 

On January 31, 2020, within the framework of the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Azerbaijan Commission on Economic Cooperation, “Ukrvinprom” signed a cooperation agreement covering scientific and technical directions in the vine and wine industry.

 

On August 17, 2020, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between 

“Reikarts hotel management”, Ukrainian Corporation for Viticulture and Wine Production Industry “Ukrvinprom” and the Scientific Center “Ukrainian Wine Institute.” The main goal is cooperation in popularizing Ukrainian winemaking and joint work on the “Wine Guide of Ukraine” and “Professional Choice Award” projects.

 

On September 25, 2020, the President of Ukraine signed and proclaimed the Decree “On the Day of the Vinegrower and Winemaker.”

 

On September 20-22, 2020, at the base of CHATEAU CHIZAY in Berehove, the Central Sector Taste Panel of Corporation Ukrvinprom held an all-Ukrainian “closed” tasting to determine the best wine products of Ukraine.

 

November 7, 2020, The first official reception was held on the national holiday “Vinegrower’s and Winemaker’s Day.”

 

On March 25, 2021, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, according to which Ukrvinprom became the official advisory organization of the Ministry of Economy on promoting the development of the vine and wine industry.

 

On March 25, 2021, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, according to which Ukrvinprom became an official advisory organization on ensuring the systematic development of vine and wine industry and popularization of the Ukrainian Wine.

 

On March 30, 2021, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Ukrvinprom and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to promote the image of Ukrainian wine products in Ukraine and abroad.

 

On April 7, 2021, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Ukrvinprom, the Ukrainian Wine Institute, and the UkrNDNC State Enterprise, which became an essential step for the technical development of the domestic industry.

 

On May 27, 2021, Ukrvinprom expanded its borders thanks to close, friendly cooperation with the world’s leading wine-producing countries, particularly the Argentine Republic. In the Official Residence of the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Ukraine, at the invitation of Mrs. Ambassador Elena Mikusinski, a Malbec tasting master class was held, during which we discussed future joint projects.

 

On June 18, 2021, the Memorandum on cooperation between the State Production and Consumer Service of Ukraine and Ukrvinprom was signed.

 

On June 30, 2021, in honor of the stunning victory of the Ukrainian national team at Euro-2020, during the international day “Greening the Planet” on the territory of the Official Residence of the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic in Ukraine, a grapevine of the variety with the iconic name “Glory to Ukraine” was planted.

 

On July 20, 2021, Ukrvinprom and the Scientific Center “Ukrainian Wine Institute” registered Furmint, Cserszegi Fuszeres, and Kekfrankos grape varieties in the updated State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine for 2021.

 

On August 31, 2021, a new tasting hall, equipped following modern norms and standards, was opened on the premises of the Ukrainian Wine Institute.

 

On September 7-8, 2021, for the first time in our country, the State Production and Consumer Service of Ukraine, together with the Ukrvinprom Corporation, with the participation of representatives of the AMCU, DPS, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the Ministry of Economy, and the Association of Sommeliers of Ukraine held a powerful meeting of the Tasting Commission, during which more than 400 samples of domestic wine products were tested and of imported origin, purchased on commission in Ukrainian trading networks.


According to the meeting results, a press conference was held in Ukrinform, where unscrupulous enterprises were named.

 

On September 20, 2021, for the first time in Ukraine, a tripartite meeting of specialists of the domestic industry organization – Ukrvinprom – with representatives of the National Interprofessional Bureau of Cognac (BNIC) and the Interprofessional Committee for Champagne (CIVC).

 

On October 21, 2021, the delegation of Ukraine took part in the official visit to Tbilisi and participated in the Tenth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Georgian Commission on Economic Cooperation.

 

On November 10, 2021, at the residence of the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Ukraine, on the initiative of the Ukrvinprom Corporation and the Embassy of the Argentine Republic to Ukraine, celebrations were held on the occasion of Wine Day in Ukraine.


 The holiday united Ukrainians and Argentinians to popularize the wine consumption culture in Ukraine and abroad.

 

On November 12, 2021, a tripartite Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Odesa Regional State Administration, the Odesa Regional Council, and the Ukrvinprom Corporation.

 

November 15, 2021, at the Paris Club Le Circle de l’Union interalliée, The Embassy of Ukraine in France held a festive diplomatic event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence Day.


 Thanks to Ukrvinprom, winemaking products of Ukrainian enterprises were presented at the celebrations, which contributed to the promotion and popularization of Ukrainian wine at a high international level.

 

On November 30, 2021, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading and as a whole draft law No. 5600, which canceled the excise tax stamp on ordinary (non-sparkling) wines, the function of suspending the license to conduct activities, Etc. And Ukrvinprom has merit in this. We continue to work on the deregulation of the industry.

 

On December 2, 2021, for the first time in Ukraine, at the initiative of the Ukrvinprom Corporation and the Ukrainian Institute of Wine, with the support of the Embassy of France in Ukraine and the assistance of the Ministry of Agriculture, an internationally certified educational and training course on advanced training for specialists in the domestic viticulture and wine industry started.
