La Cité du Vin is a wine museum, a cultural center of world winemaking traditions. Opened in the French location of Bordeaux in 2016. 3 thousand square meters are dedicated to the culture of wine production and consumption from different parts of the world. And from 2022 — to Ukrainian wine as well.
That year, the Ukrainian Viticulture and Wine Industry Corporation “Ukrvinprom” became an official partner-ambassador of the Foundation of Wine Culture and Wine Civilizations, which manages the La Cité du Vin center.
On August 30-31, 2022, within the framework of this partnership, we conducted a selection of ambassadorial “ambassador” wines from national producers within the innovative project “Ukrainian wine – part of the world cultural heritage of La Cité du Vin wine”. The best samples became “ambassador” wines and already represent Ukraine in the unique cultural center of wine La Cité du Vin.

The project is non-commercial and long-term. For its support and successful implementation, we will hold tasting and presentation events at high state and international levels together with the Ukrainian Institute of Wine, the Association of Sommeliers of Ukraine with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Production and Consumer Service, and the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine every year.
The presence of Ukrainian wines in La Cité du Vin is more than an image. This ensures the presentation of Ukraine on the wine map of the world as a wine-producing state. It supports Ukrainian winemakers, expands their export borders and recognition, accelerates the exit of the wine-growing industry of Ukraine from a state of deep crisis, which intensified as a result of the military aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
On November 14-15, 2022, the Ukrvinprom Corporation held the first presentation of the viticulture and winemaking industry of Ukraine at the Foundation of Wine Culture and Wine Civilizations, which was dedicated to the Day of the Grape Grower and Winemaker of Ukraine (Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 403/2020), which Ukraine now celebrates thanks to the initiative of Ukrvinprom .
On that day, we presented the culture, heritage and value of Ukrainian winemaking to a wide audience. They showed a film about the history of the industry and the consequences of the war for Ukrainian winemakers. Destroyed vineyards, stolen wine collections, destroyed warehouses – all this should be seen by the world.
Since that day, Wine of Ukraine is available to every visitor of La Cité du Vin.
“Wine is a universal language that transcends borders, centuries and beliefs.”
In honor of this event, we have developed thematic postage stamps, which, for the time being, are in limited edition, reminding of the beginning of a new history for Wine of Ukraine.
