Ukrvinprom Announces the Commencement of a New Selection of “Ambassador” Wines for 2023
From August 15 to 17, 2023, in Kyiv, the second All-Ukrainian selection of “ambassador” wines from national producers will take place as part of the innovative project “Ukrainian Wine – a Part of the World Cultural Heritage of Wine La Cité du Vin.”
The finest samples that will become “Ambassador” wines will represent Ukraine at the unique wine cultural center, La Cité du Vin, in the French city of Bordeaux.
Last year’s “Ambassador” wines, which received international recognition, were presented under the auspices of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, during the annual exhibitions Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris. This recognition has already led to contracts for export to several European countries. By participating once again in the selection for La Cité du Vin, Ukrainian winemakers can further strengthen their positions in the global market and adapt to international standards, showcasing their authenticity, tradition, and uniqueness to the world.
The continuous presence Wine of Ukraine in La Cité du Vin ensures the representation of Ukraine as a winemaking country with a rich heritage of national winemaking to the global community.
The future “Ambassador” wines are planned to be presented in Paris in collaboration with the Embassy of Ukraine in France and the Association of Foreign Journalists, which comprises over 120 media representatives from all continents.
The tasting for La Cité du Vin will be conducted by the Ukrvinprom corporation as the official partner-ambassador of the Wine Culture and Wine Civilizations Foundation (Fondation pour la Culture et les Civilisations du Vin), which manages the La Cité du Vin center, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Sommelier Association, the Ukrainian Wine Institute, the National University of Food Technologies, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, Ukrainian National Intellectual Property Office and Innovation Centers, National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, and the platform for export promotion, NAZOVNI.
On August 17, the reception and Ukrainian Wine Ambassador 2023 award ceremony will take place at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

For reference, since its opening on June 1, 2016, La Cité du Vin has become an integral part of Bordeaux’s tourist circuit. It also serves as a vibrant social hub for the residents of Bordeaux and its surrounding areas. Each year, La Cité du Vin welcomes an average of 400,000 visitors from 180 different nationalities around the world, as well as over 1,000 French and international journalists, 1,100 groups, and hosts 400 private events.
In 2022, more than 500 bottles of ambassadorial wines were delivered to the City of Wine. This collection was intended to serve as an annual offering for promoting and showcasing Ukrainian wines to an international audience. However, to the surprise of many, these 500 bottles were fully tasted and enjoyed by wine enthusiasts in just three months.
