“Ukrvinprom” held a seminar at Sorbonne dedicated to the history of Ukrainian winemaking

   At the invitation of the Sorbonne University in Paris, the scientific and practical seminar “Ukraine. Vine and wine in support” and tasting wine of Ukraine. The event was dedicated to the third anniversary of the Day of the Vintner and Winemaker in Ukraine, which is officially celebrated every second Sunday of November.

   During the event, a tripartite signing of the Declaration of Intent on cooperation between the Sorbonne, the Wine Institute and the National University of Food Technologies took place. This will provide opportunities for Ukrainian and French scientists to work together, exchange knowledge, technologies and improve the viticulture industry.

   The participants of the seminar and tasting had the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of Ukrainian winemaking, its realities during the war and the prospects for development at the international level. The representatives of the Ukrainian delegation told their French colleagues about the unique features of the grape growing areas on the territory of Ukraine, wine production technologies, including Kagor and fortified dessert wines, which are an integral part of our country’s culture.

   During the practical part of the seminar, the participants got to know Ukrainian producers in more detail and tasted several samples:

– Оrdinary table wine dry variety red “Merlot”, TM “Villa UA”

– Grape wine ordinary dry white “Citronny Magaracha”, vintage 2021, TM “GRAEVO”

– Cabernet dry red grape wine of the 2021 harvest, TM “GRAEVO”

– Ordinary mature dry red table wine “Grand Reserve “I KRAPKA” Cuvee, TM “COTNAR”

– Ordinary aged table wine, dry varietal red “Grand Reserve Merlot”, TM “COTNAR”

– Special type white sweet wine Furmint Late Harvest, LLC “CHATEAU CHIZAY”

– Ordinary fortified dessert wine of a special type, sweet red “Kagor”, LLC “CHATEAU CHIZAY”

   The event was supported by the Embassy of Ukraine in France and in cooperation with the National University of Food Technologies, the Scientific Center “Ukrainian Wine Institute”, and researchers from the University of California, San Diego, and the State University of Moldova.

   This important event is designed to promote the exchange of experience, increase the level of Ukrainian education and strengthen international partnership relations. In memory of Ukraine and with the intention of further friendship, the Ukrainian delegation presented the Sorbonne with the book “Ukrainian Statehood”, which will be kept in the university’s library.
